We are offering Pre-Conference courses from September 11th-13th.
These courses are considered “Advanced Training” and all require a pre-requisite (Conflict Coaching and Mediation). If you desire to take Conflict Coaching and Mediation prior to the 2012 Peacemaker Conference so you are eligible for these Advanced Trainings then please visit our training calendar for a training near you.
1. Reconciling Church Conflict – Intense conflict in a local church can be devastating: ministries can be paralyzed, Christian relationships strained or broken. And probably worst of all, our witness to the world of the reconciling power of Jesus Christ is nullified. But you can play a part in helping churches stuck in conflict: Peacemaker Ministries’ Reconciling Church Conflict course can equip to serve on a team of peacemakers coming in to aid a conflicted church. This is a three-day intensive course designed to introduce you to the process of intervening in a conflicted church and equip you with the skills necessary to serve as an effective member of a church intervention team.
2. Reconciling Marital Conflict -Marriages are in danger today. Although many things can cause martial conflict, divorce appears the only option when hopelessness pushes people over the edge. Couples who have endured years of frustration and disappointment, hoping that somehow things would improve, find the one moment when they just give up hope. They frequently ask, “Why should I go on being miserable when there is no hope of things ever getting better?” Peacemakers have a unique opportunity to shed the light of the gospel into the dark tunnel of marital conflict. This three- day training is directed in its focus to helping reconcile a marriage in trouble. Pastors, counselors, attorneys and church leaders who work with couples who are experiencing marital conflict will especially find this training helpful.
3. Certification – This training, required as part of the Certification Program, is designed to help you provide services for resolving conflicts in more intense and complex conflicts that may have more parties and deeper issues. This training also provides an introduction to the arbitration process that can be used within a church setting and conducted by people who are not attorneys or professional counselors. It is a three-day live training, involving lectures, demonstrations, individual exercises, and a half-day role-play. In the role-play, each participant will conduct a case that transitions from mediation to a simple arbitration requiring a written decision.
